Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month

Each April, the Children & family Advocacy Center recognizes Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month. In April 2026, our community came together to raise awareness and support child abuse prevention through several events and activities.

Cherishing Children Rallies

The month begins as we will hold the annual Cherishing Children Rallies to share about the work our organization does, the commitment our community makes to helping those experiencing trauma and taking time to honor those lives lost to abuse and neglect. The CFAC is proud to represent both its Main and Satellite locations with two separate rallies at the beginning of April.

Planting Hope

Throughout April, the CFAC’s Planting Hope Pinwheel Campaign brought our community together around the national symbol of the pinwheel. Pinwheels represent the joy, playfulness, and carefree childhood every child deserves. Throughout the month, they served as a reminder of the importance of preventing child abuse and creating safe, nurturing environments where children can thrive.

WeAR Blue Day

On April 3, 2026, our community wore blue for WeAR Blue Day, an annual day of awareness dedicated to child abuse prevention.

Wearing blue helped spark conversations about child safety, prevention, and the importance of recognizing and reporting suspected abuse.

Blue Sunday

On April 26, 2026, communities and congregations participated in Blue Sunday, coming together to pray for children and families affected by abuse and neglect and to raise awareness about prevention.

Blue Sunday provided an opportunity to reflect, learn, and stand together in support of safer communities for children. If your congregation would like to get involved, please contact our Community Relations team.

Family Fun Festival & Flashback 5K

We wrapped up the month with our Family Fun Festival & Flashback 5K on April 24 at Northwest Arkansas Community College.

Families enjoyed an afternoon of crafts, food, vendor booths, community partners, and plenty of ’90s fun before cheering on participants in the 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, and 400-yard dash.

With neon, high-top sneakers, and lots of community spirit, it was a fun-filled afternoon for all ages.

Thank You for Helping Us Raise Awareness

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, partnered, wore blue, planted a pinwheel, attended a rally, joined us at the Family Fun Festival, or helped spread the word throughout April.

Together, our community helped shine a light on child abuse prevention and remind children and families that they are not alone.
