A Journey To Trauma Healing

A young boy and young girl sitting on a coach with their hands covering their eyes as they experience trauma. Two adults can be seen arguing behind them.

We can’t share their names, but we can tell their stories.

The story of a 9-year-old boy being abused at home who finds peace at our center thanks to a teacher who recognized the signs and made a report.

The story of a 16-year-old girl who becomes withdrawn, burdened by the violence she witnesses at home, but finds healing through counseling.

The story of a 35-year-old woman with the courage to take her daughter and leave an abusive relationship, finding her way to our center and breaking the cycle of generational abuse.

These stories are our reality, and they happen every day at the Children & Family Advocacy Center.

For the three cases above, and hundreds more each year, we are working to build resilient families. We are able to achieve this through:

  • Comprehensive services offered in a safe setting
  • A coordinated team approach with our community partners
  • Staff who strive to be experts in their fields and continue to use their skill to empower those impacted by trauma

Federal and State Funding at
the Children & Family Advocacy Center

Recent cuts to federal funding and reallocation of state funds have led to an over $600,000 loss in funding for our services – individual, comprehensive lifelines for children and families navigating trauma or abuse.

We’ve long prioritized building relationships with local donors and partners—people like you—who believe in healing and lasting change. Without your support, essential services are at risk.

For every child that walks through our doors after an allegation of abuse or neglect, an average of three family members receives no-cost services including therapy and ongoing advocacy. We acknowledge that the effects of this funding cut are significant. If applied directly to services, these cuts would impact over 855 clients each year – nearly one-third of those we serve.

Your gifts are more than just donations—they are lifelines. They fill in the gaps where federal funding once stood. They ensure that a child still leaves therapy with a bag of groceries. That a mother escaping abuse can continue her education. That every family walking through our doors still finds safety, compassion, and the tools to rebuild.

We’re entering a critical chapter, and you are the reason we’re hopeful. Together, we can not only weather these cuts—we can emerge stronger, more community-driven, and more committed than ever to serving those who need us most.
