The CFAC Facility Dog
The Children & Family Advocacy Center (CFAC) welcomed Xaya, a Black Phantom Labradoodle, as the CFAC Facility Dog in September 2024.
Xaya offers emotional support and therapeutic care to clients, including children and families impacted by trauma. She assists both the child maltreatment response team and the residential program for women and children.
What does a facility dog do?
Facility dogs are an innovation in victim support. Dogs have been known to provide a sense safety and security for children as well as decrease anxiety and lower heart rate. Unlike assistance dogs for individual users, facility dogs work with a handler to serve a broader community
